"From the campaigns being run by homosexuals who are advocating for same-sex ‘marriage’, you’d think that being able to ‘marry’ will resolve all the problems they claim are associated with ‘non-acceptance’ by society.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case. . .
One of the issues often raised by homosexual activists, in their quest to legalise homosexual ‘marriage’, is the 'higher rate of suicide among homosexuals'. They often say marriage will reduce the number of suicides, as it will bring more acceptance by society.
One of the main reasons that homosexual groups say they don’t want a ‘plebiscite’ on marriage, is that they say young LGBTI people will be emotionally hurt, and perhaps be suicidal, when they hear the debate.
However, a new study in Sweden shows that homosexuals who are ‘married’ have nearly three times the suicide rate of their heterosexual counterparts.
Sweden legalised homosexual ‘marriage’ back in 2009 – more than seven years ago. Sweden legalised ‘registered partnerships’ back in 1995, the third country to do so after Denmark legalised them in 1989. (Source)
So homosexual relationships have been formally approved in Sweden for a long time. You would think that the ‘acceptance’ issue would have been resolved, if that was really the reason behind the higher suicide rates. The truth is that there are inevitably emotional problems within these relationships that aren’t resolved by societal acceptance.
FamilyVoice has issued a Media Release that gives the details of the study. . . and provides further insight. . .

High suicide rates in married homosexuals: Swedish study
Swedish married homosexuals suicide at nearly three times the rate of other married people.
“Proponents of same-sex marriage often claim it is needed to lower the depression and suicidal feelings reported in people with same-sex attractions,” FamilyVoice research officer Ros Phillips said today. “But a new Swedish study published in the European Journal of Epidemiology indicates that legal same-sex marriage fails to achieve this outcome.”
The May 2016 study found that in Sweden – one of the world’s most “gay-tolerant” societies – married same-sex couples have nearly three times the suicide rate of their heterosexual counterparts.
Ros Phillips said it is sadly true that people with same-sex attractions suffer higher rates of mental ill-health. “These problems remain, regardless of community attitudes,” she said.
“Research in the Netherlands – the first nation to legalise same-sex marriage and the most supportive of people with same-sex attractions – has found that Dutch homosexuals also have higher rates of suicide symptoms.
“They need compassionate help. But changing the meaning marriage has had throughout history in almost every culture is not the way,” Ros Phillips said.

Every child comes from and needs BOTH a mother and a father. Same-sex "marriage" intentionally keeps either a mother or a father from the child. Government should protect the child through upholding traditional marriage.

True marriage offers true equality for children. Every child comes from and needs BOTH a Mum and a Dad. Every human being has dignity and deserves respect. All sorts of relationships can be respected at law without having to change marriage laws. In fact that has been the case legally for many years. The simple fact remains though that not every relationship is marriage.
