From Marriage Alliance:
Last night, the Labor Party did their best to silence your voice.
Bill Shorten and the Labor Party voted against the plebiscite legislation in the Senate, so that they can instead force a change to the Marriage Act through Parliament. Senator Penny Wong, the Opposition Leader in the Senate, confirmed their strategy on Monday in her Senate speech, saying:
"Marriage equality supporters will fight for a vote in Parliament... we will keep campaigning and keep fighting until this Parliament... legislates for marriage equality."
It’s an undemocratic move that reflects what Labor clearly knows: that the majority of Australians do not want the definition of marriage to change.
Labor has already conceded that Australians don’t want same-sex marriage, telling the media that their polling showed a plebiscite would likely fail to change the definition of marriage. This means that Labor is working openly against the known wishes of the Australian people.
This was made clear last night, when 33 senators voted to silence your voice, narrowly defeating the votes from 29 senators who believe your voice matters and deserves to be heard.
Since August of last year, Marriage Alliance has worked to defend the voice of millions of Australians, including you. Since then, we have had some major achievements, such as:
When it comes to something like marriage, with significant consequences that affect you and your family, you deserve to be heard. Recent events will not deter us: Marriage Alliance will continue to fight for a plebiscite on marriage, because your voice matters.
You may have received our ‘7 Reasons why Australians Deserve a Plebiscite’ flyer in the mail recently, which you can also view here.
We are committed to being your voice in this debate, because we know that you could face intimidation and bullying for simply voicing an opinion against same-sex marriage.
With your support, we can continue to speak up for the silent majority, and defend your right to have a say. Marriage Alliance exists to help inform Australians about the consequences of redefining marriage, and fighting for the right of the Australian people to have their voice heard.
We have a plan to ensure that every Australian knows the consequences of changing the definition of marriage, including what it means for our freedom of speech, our families, our schools, and even our workplaces.
Our opposition is outspending us, and spending aggressively on TV advertising campaigns. Without your support, it is an uphill battle to defend your rights. With a donation of $100, we can letterbox 2000 homes with educational materials about the dangerous ‘Safe Schools’ program, and the consequences of redefining marriage.
Would you consider giving a gift of $75 or even $100 to help Marriage Alliance to achieve these goals?
DONATE TO SUPPORT MARRIAGE
Thank you for your support, past, present, and future! Together, we will ensure that the Australian people know the consequences of redefining marriage, and we will never stop fighting for your right to make your voice heard in this crucial marriage debate.

Every child comes from and needs BOTH a mother and a father. Same-sex "marriage" intentionally keeps either a mother or a father from the child. Government should protect the child through upholding traditional marriage.
There is “a time to be silent, and a time to speak”. (Ecclesiastes 3:7). Now is the time to speak, so please speak up and defend children, truth and freedom. Craig Manners
“What the world needs most is a voice that courageously speaks the truth, not when the world is right, but a voice that speaks the truth when the world is wrong.” Fulton Sheen
True marriage offers true equality for children. Every child comes from and needs BOTH a Mum and a Dad. Every human being has dignity and deserves respect. All sorts of relationships can be respected at law without having to change marriage laws. In fact that has been the case legally for many years. The simple fact remains though that not every relationship is marriage.
